SF State university offers two programs to motivate young scientists - Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) and Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE). MARC targets research careers in biology, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, math and physics, while RISE is aimed at Ph.D.s in the biomedical or physical sciences.
