Federal Government Shutdown update
  October 18th 2013

Dear Principal Investigators and Staff,

As you may already know, the federal government has now re-opened.  As the shutdown created a massive backlog of proposals, missed deadlines and cancelled review sessions, agencies are still figuring out their action plans and we are slowly receiving communication on these issues.

We have not yet received guidance on revised deadlines for missed opportunities during the shutdown.

We will continue to update our website (www.research.sfsu.edu ) with the most current information from agencies on how they plan to handle the backlog of proposals, missed deadlines and review sessions.

Here is what we know as of Friday October 18th:

National Institutes of Health: Interim Guidance on Resumption of NIH Extramural Activities
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-14-002.html

All October grant application submission deadlines will be moved to the November timeframe (specific dates to be announced in a future Notice).

Peer review meetings that were due to be held between October 1 and October 17 have been cancelled and are being rescheduled.

eRA Commons will be available for public access on Monday, October 21.

NIH will provide additional information, including a Notice on NIH operations during a continuing resolution, as soon as it is available.

Resumption of Operations at the National Science Foundation

Please see attached notice.
Fastlane is open and functioning.
Research.gov is open, and reports may be submitted.

Please be sure to remain in contact with your Grant Administrator or Sponsored Programs Manager if you have any questions about deadlines or guidelines during this transition period.

Thank you,

ORSP
